Comwell Hotels wins sustainability award for the 6th year in a row

Once again, 12,000 Danish consumers have identified Comwell Hotels as the hotel chain in Denmark that they perceive as the most sustainable. Therefore, for the 6th year in a row, Comwell has been awarded the European Sustainable Brand Index™ Award. The award has just been presented at the Swedish research company SB Insights' annual award ceremony.

Comwell Hotels has seriously sharpened and concretized its long-standing focus on sustainability, and Danish consumers have noticed this. Comwell receives the Sustainable Brand Index™ Award as the best placed in the hotel industry and number 48 out of a total of 253 Danish companies.

"We are both proud and humbled to once again receive the Sustainable Brand Index Award. It shows that Danish consumers are paying attention to the many initiatives we have launched. ESG is an important and highly prioritized aspect of our operations and strategy in general," says Peter Schelde, CEO of Comwell Hotels.

Thanks to the efforts of employees

Comwell's sustainability efforts range from environmental initiatives to reduce the chain's CO2 emissions to a focus on employee well-being and development.

"ESG is embedded in most of our actions. We work purposefully on activities that will take better care of our planet and our surrounding environment. And partly to make Comwell an even more safe and inclusive workplace with a high level of diversity among employees, which is a big part of our sustainability journey. If it wasn't for the efforts of our employees, it wouldn't be realistic to set such high ambitions," says Mai-Britt Jensen, HR and Sustainability Director at Comwell Hotels.

Last year, Comwell published their first standalone ESG report as part of the hotel chain's overall financial reporting. The report highlights the chain's sustainability efforts and a number of ambitious goals and plans. One of the hotel chain's goals is to be carbon neutral in its own operations by 2030 and in the entire value chain by 2040, which the hotel chain cemented in 2023 by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

"Age is our workforce"

As retirement approaches, questions about the future, opportunities and limitations of working life arise for many. At Comwell, however, age is no obstacle to having career dreams late in life - or following them. Not even for the three waiters, 65-year-old Jørgen, 60-year-old student Ole or 58-year-old Helge.
