Activities at the Hotel

Bespoke walking and running routes
Is the freedom to incorporate nature into your daily exercise high on your list of priorities? Then join us on a walking/running route and explore the hotel’s nature surroundings. We’ve created three different digital running routes and added them to the RunGo app, which uses turn-by-turn navigation to show you which route to run, the remaining distance and which roads or paths you should take. Just like a car’s GPS system.

The shorter three-kilometre route is also recommended as a walk-and-talk route for a healthy break during a meeting or seminar. RunGo is free and available for iOS and Android – for both smartphone and Apple Watch.

Bike rental
Head outdoors and experience the forest and beautiful nature near the hotel. Or bike to Lyngby and enjoy an ice cream. You can rent bikes by the day. Just ask at reception.

Attractions Near the Hotel

Fredensborg Castle
Fredensborg Castle Gardens are among Denmark's largest historic gardens. The garden's original French Baroque style features long, straight avenues that extend from the castle in a star-shaped pattern. Certain avenues were recreated in the 1970s to 1990s as a Danish example of the sumptuous style familiar from Versailles. A stroll through the beautiful gardens will take you past countless fascinating statues and sculptures.

Open-Air Museum
The Open-Air Museum is one of the world's largest and oldest open-air museums with more than 100 buildings from all over the country. Enter a fairy tale world with farms and houses from all over the country, beautiful historic gardens, cute farm animals, as well as activities and theatre for the whole family.

Old Holtegaard
Old Holtegaard is an art gallery housed in a complex designed in 1756 by one of Denmark's most eminent baroque architects, Lauritz de Thurah. At Gammel Holtegaard, the unique historic character of the house and garden is inseparable from the exhibition profile, which is primarily used to show contemporary art.

Frederiksborg Castle
Frederiksborg Castle is beautifully situated on three small islets in the Castle Lake in Hillerød. Magnificent cultural experiences await the whole family within the castle walls, while the picturesque surroundings are ideal for peaceful garden walks and boat trips.

Louisiana
If you are interested in modern art, a visit to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a must. The world-famous Louisiana is among the most visited museums in Denmark and offers a programme of special exhibitions all year round.

Bakken
The world's oldest amusement park, Bakken, is located in the middle of Dyrehaven. It offers a wealth of rides and restaurants for all ages.

Tivoli
Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park located in the centre of Copenhagen close to Central Station and Strøget. The park is the world's second oldest of its kind, surpassed only by Bakken. Walt Disney drew a great deal of inspiration from Tivoli, which is almost magical when in full bloom with some of Denmark’s most beautiful perennials, flowers and shrubs. Enjoy a walk in the beautiful garden with historic buildings, cosy nooks and fun-filled squeals.

Karen Blixen Museum
Rungstedlund is the birthplace of author Karen Blixen. She lived here throughout her childhood and youth, and it became her home once again when she returned to Denmark after spending 17 years in Africa. She lived at Rungstedlund until her death in 1962, and it was here that she wrote her world-famous tales.

Nature Experiences Near the Hotel

Nearest Beach
Dive into the blue waves or enjoy the view of the Sound at Vedbæk beach and marina. It’s a lovely place with a child-friendly sandy beach with a jetty, and facilities include public toilets, restaurants and, most importantly, an ice cream kiosk.

It is also possible to swim in Furesøen. There are several bathing jetties along the shore and Frederiksdal Fribad is located approx. 7 km from the hotel. There is a large lawn that slopes down to the lake with a small sandy beach, jetty, toilet facilities, ice cream kiosk and restaurant.

Nearest Ice Cream Bar
Summer and ice cream go hand-in-hand and one of the area’s most charming ice cream bars is the one in Holte Harbour at Vejlesø. The harbour features a lovely new playground with lots of child-friendly activities, and there are plenty of tables and benches where you can enjoy an ice cream, as well as a small restaurant.

Nearest High Street
Holte is not a large town, but in the centre, you’ll find Holte Midtpunkt, home to a wide range of grocery stores, a café and a few restaurants. A flea market is held in the large car park near the forest on Sundays from 08:00-14:00, and you can often find great bargains on children's clothing and household items.

The nearby towns of Lyngby and Hillerød offer a larger selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, but you can also easily reach Copenhagen from Holte. It only takes 20 min. by S-train from Holte station.

Nearest Forest
Comwell Holte is situated right in the middle of the woods. On one side of Kongevejen is Rude Skov, with countless walks and mountain bike trails.

On the other side of the hotel down towards Furesøen is Vaserne – a large, green nature area. It is Northern Europe's largest alder swamp and offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching from the two bird towers and the newly built footbridge along Furesøen.

We wholeheartedly recommend a trip along the Mølleåen river, which meanders beautifully from Buresø west of Farum all the way to the Sound.

Nearest Sights
Holte and the surrounding area offer a wide range of cultural attractions. Not far from here, you will find Gammel Holtegaard, which is an art gallery housing both national and international artists. Day trip opportunities include a walk to Rungstedgaard and the Karen Blixen Museum, which is also surrounded by a lovely park. On the other side of the road is Rungsted Harbour, where the marina is always buzzing with life and there are plenty of lovely restaurants and bars. Enjoy a glass of chilled wine with a view of the harbour.

The hotel’s beautiful large garden and green surroundings are ideal for a picnic. Borrow a blanket and lie down on the grass, relax and enjoy the sounds and smells of summer. There are also tables and benches located in several places around the hotel.

Søllerød Golf Club is a few minutes drive away, situated in the middle of the beautiful hilly Søllerød Nature Reserve. In addition to an 18-hole golf course, there is a clubhouse with a charming restaurant, a pro shop, changing rooms and staff on hand to answer questions.
