As of next year, the Danish hotel chain can stick another pin in the map when they take over operation of Bygholm Park in Horsens. With the acquisition of this wonderful manor house, Comwell will strengthen its position as a national hotel chain in Denmark, where they will operate 19 hotels and venues going forward.
On 1 January 2023, Comwell will take over operation of the current Scandic Bygholm Park in Horsens. The acquisition took place after a short negotiation process with the building owners, who want Comwell to run a hotel business on the property in the future, meaning that the hotel will change its name to Comwell Bygholm Park.
CEO Peter Schelde is looking forward to bringing
Comwell's brand to one of the country's fastest-growing municipalities:
“With the acquisition of Bygholm Park, we not only
have 19 hotels and venues nationwide, we can also add meeting and conference
facilities with a large capacity and many opportunities, centrally located in
East Jutland. Horsens has been experiencing notable job and population growth
in recent years. Therefore, this move is completely in line with our strategy
to expand in big cities. The hotel fits well into our portfolio, with large
accommodation and conference capacity, in the middle of a scenic area. I am
therefore glad that we have been asked to run the hotel in the future. Getting
the agreement in place has been a good, constructive and quick process. With
Comwell Bygholm Park, we will become even stronger in the market with our
well-known brand, strong meeting concept and high level of service.”
Meeting facilities with historical presence and
significance
The oldest part of Bygholm was built as a castle in
1313 and belonged to the Crown for more than 300 years. Subsequently, Bygholm was given key agricultural
status and was stated to be Jutland's third-largest estate. Among other things,
the place was a hub for guiding and educating people involved in agriculture.
Today, the hotel is structured around the old main building with two more recent additions. The whitewashed buildings are surrounded by the large Bygholm Park, which provides ample opportunity for social activities, walk-and-talk meetings and jogging. The hotel currently has 142 rooms, 18 meeting rooms with room for 600 people and a restaurant. Bygholm Park is located just 1.5 km from the centre of Horsens, 4 km from the motorway and a short walk through the park from Horsens Station.
Immediately after the acquisition on 1 January 2023, Comwell will begin a thorough renovation of all rooms, meeting rooms and common areas, just as Comwell's well-known concepts, such as Co-Work, will be implemented. Comwell wants to create a unique and modern hotel with respect for the historic setting. The renovation will take place in stages, so that hotel operations are not affected or disrupted.
It is Comwell's intention to offer employees at Bygholm Park continued employment.
