After operating Aspenäs Herrgård outside Gothenburg for more than 20 years, Comwell has decided not to extend the contract with the owners of the Swedish conference hotel. The decision was based on Comwell's strategic development plan, and Nordic Hotel Consulting is ready to take over operations as of 1 May 2021.
As of spring 2021, the group management of Comwell Hotels has decided not to extend the contract at one of their two Swedish hotels. K/S Aspenäs Hotelopsparing, the owner of Aspenäs Herrgård, has decided to hand over operations to Nordic Hotel Consulting when Comwell ceases to be an operator at the end of April. This will safeguard the future of the hotel and conference centre at this historic manor house.
“Of course, the fact that we will no longer be running Aspenäs Herrgård is sad. We have run the place for more than 20 years, and have been happy with the hotel, the location, our skilled staff and the many loyal guests we have served over the years. As we near the expiration of the contract, it is only natural that we should ask ourselves whether this particular hotel is still relevant to the customer segments for which we typically develop our products. After careful consideration, we have found that this is no longer the case for Aspenäs Herrgård,” says Comwell's CEO, Peter Schelde, who also emphasises that Comwell will continue to operate the Group's other hotel in Sweden, Varbergs Kusthotell.
Chairman of the Board at K/S Aspenäs Hotelopsparing,
Peder Engelbrecht, is pleased to be able to safeguard the future activities at
Aspenäs Herrgård:
“For many years, we have had a very positive
collaboration with Comwell, which has run the hotel with great respect for its
history and the very special location in this scenic area. To ensure a
continued professional operation, K/S Aspenäs Hotelopsparing has entered into a
management agreement with Nordic Hotel Consulting, which will take over the
operation on 1 May 2021. At the same time, we have entered into short-term collaboration
agreements with Comwell regarding sales, marketing and financial management, so
as to ensure an optimal and smooth transition after 30 April. Both K/S Aspenäs
Hotelopsparing and Nordic Hotel Consulting look forward to a good collaboration
with the hotel's current management and employees.”
Aspenäs Herrgård is located in Lerum, 20 minutes from Gothenburg. The historic manor has been run as a hotel and conference centre since 1967, and today has 33 meeting and conference rooms, 112 bedrooms and a restaurant. Comwell has been the operator of the Swedish conference hotel since 2000, and the most recent contract was signed in 2006.
The current CEO, Carina Gustavsson, will continue to head Aspenäs Herrgård when Nordic Hotel Consulting takes over operations on 1 May 2021. She promises to do her part to ensure that the employees are met with a good, open dialogue about the transition.
